A New Approach
Has anyone noticed that there's a pattern to political issues of late? The Bush administration comes up with some complete and ridiculous lie, and it becomes the focus of natonal attention for the next several years. Bush flat out lied, claiming that there were certain kinds of chemical and biological weapons. A year of heated 'debate' and one war later, he finally comes clean. In the meantime the international media, both major political parties, a host of pundits, everyone wasted incredible sums of social energy debating this obvious lie. Or look at the Swift Boat Vets. The same thing occurred here, a complete and obvious fabrication was made and somehow simply exposing it for the underhanded and dishonest attempt that it was ended up doing more political damage, overall, than allowing it to run unchecked would have. The media is, naturally, more to blame than most, idiots and corrupt editors giving credance to a story that deserved none, but everyone who continued to promote the debate helped discourage interest in far more worthy news and social conversation which might actually have helped progress the nation or world. And now, what, this social security issue? Bush makes another lie, I mean a bald faced one, claiming that social security is threatened by a looming bankruptcy crisis. This isn't true. The very people who draw up the figures he claims to be getting his data from have pointed out, simply, that the system will always have money coming into it, therefor it can't go 'bankrupt'. And what happens? Liberal pundits write pages of material contending the notion, conservative pundits spread even more lies about social security, our mainstream media doesn't bother to research the matter at all, and it all ends up becoming this meaningless waste of time and energy, an endless debate on a very, very simple issue. There is a much more obvious way to approach this. We approach it quickly and directly. We say, "Hey, Bush, stop fucking lying and do your JOB." To every media talking head who tries to bring this issue up, we write them letters saying, "Hey, stop focusing on lies and do your JOB!" To every congressman who thinks to try and introduce this issue on the floor, we demand their fucking resignation and then warn each and every other one of them to do their JOB, or the same thing will happen to them. And you conservatives, you should be fucking ashamed of yourselves. I seem to recall a lot of you telling this bullshit lie that you only voted for Bush because of the abortion issue. So where is that issue? That was the one you all claimed to care about, the cheap appeal to emotion you used to excuse your greedy and irrational little bid to tyranny. Just gonna ignore it now? Oh, yeah, this fake social security crisis is worth far more attention, just like the fake Iraqi threat or fake claims that Kerry got shot on purpose. And that's what it boils down to. There aren't any 'debates' worth having, at this point. The American right wing is purely and simply full of shit, and that's all the time we should devote to discussing their 'issues'. Natural geology created the Grand Canyon, not Jehovah wiping out sinful humans with a flood. There is no terrorist threat except the one the Bush family encourages by using military muscle to back violent tyrants for personal profit. There is no sanctity of marraige, nor is it the place of our government to defend religious ideals. The economy is not rebounding. You, conservatives, are full of shit. Discussion closed. As the old saying goes, it's dangerous to argue with idiots, because it can become difficult for observers to distinguish. So let's put these liars and lunatics behind us and start discussing ISSUES. Not 'what they want to distract us with' issues like the 'social security' crisis, but actual issues about the progress and care of our species and world.
From every angle
As I've stated before, the real issue which we, intelligent, joy loving Fun Party members, deal with in relation to our current political environment is not so much the idiots at the top as the idiots at the bottom. Currently, the beliefs and trends of the common man shift further and further away from, not just a society that we would like, but really any model by which society can survive at all. Perhaps nothing in my recent experience illustraits this more effectively than the conversation I listened to on NPR regarding OSHA's recent renegotiation of its rules and regulations. Understand that word, renegotiation. not reevaluation, rewriting, but renegotiation. Big business and OSHA are getting together to discuss health and safety regulations, and guess who isn't invited? The unions, the workers. Osha spokesmen said right there on NPR that they are not legally obligated to the worker, but to the government and to the business, and that as a result the unions have no place at these discussions. Really mull that around in your head. OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, designed for the SOUL purpose of safeguarding the health of the American work force has just announced that the American workforce has no business getting involved with how these rules are written or applied. What is the social message here? The social message is that, in our society, profiteering is the soul valued concept. human safety sits a distant back seat to the right of a business to cut costs by cutting safety. So fundamental to our social consciousness is this belief that the organization designed to subvert this notion instead castrates itself on the alter of Big Business, and the 'liberal' reporters over at All Things Considered don't even seem to grasp that anything is amiss. Dallas, the obvious t-shirt for the fun party is simply, "What the FUCK, people?"
Calling a spade a... well... something
Read this. Seriously, it will make you laugh and laugh and laugh. Our president still has trouble admitting a mistake, but he's getting closer... "I don't know if you'd call it a regret, but it certainly is a lesson that a president must be mindful of, that the words that you sometimes say. ... I speak plainly sometimes, but you've got to be mindful of the consequences of the words. So put that down. I don't know if you'd call that a confession, a regret, something."
Stop the presses!
This just in... our president loves the Lord, and he don't wear no defibrillator. Also, a White House official speaking on condition of anonymity reports that Bush hates evil-doers.
Hump day
The beauty of the Internets is that nothing ever, ever goes away. Take our president's mystery bulge... please. I was perusing This Modern World today and saw a link to further speculation. Here's a taste... George W. Bush apparently is wearing a medical device for "persons at risk of cardiac arrest." It is a LifeVest wearable defibrillator. He started using it sometime after his January 2002 fainting spell, which was attributed to choking. Based on photos showing him wearing the device, one can conclude the fainting was due to atrial fibrillation (AF), which his father also had. His father's AF was caused by Graves' hyperthyroidism, which his mother also has. Bush likely has AF and less likely Graves', based on his family history and symptoms. The AF may have caused a stroke or TIA (mini-stroke), of which physicians watching the debates detected symptoms. Observers have noted psychological symptoms consistent with this and with Wernicke-Korsakoff disease.
Yes, friends, if this is true we are dangerously close to having this mystery bulge running the country.
Big Wave OR Japanese Restaurant in Downtown Annapolis (I bet they feel dumb right now.)
Hi, babies. It’s Kristin again. Damn. Am I a slack little so-and-so or what? This is a political blog, I know, but here’s the thing: I can’t read the news any more or listen to NPR, because: TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI TSUNAMI. I concede that it is a horrifying tragedy, and I donated to the Red Cross, so let’s not get all bent out of shape because I went ahead and said it. ENOUGH. WITH THE TSUNAMI TALK. I am all for it if we have breaking news on this story. Knock yourselves out with the Olympics coverage style human interest stories on the MSN home page. Fine. But we’re starting to rehash now, and rehashing is for sitcom writers who are running out of steam at the end of the season (“Let’s do a flashback episode!). Is George W. Bush still president? Seriously, who knows? What’s the weather like? I don’t know but there was a tsunami in south Asia. I would like to thank “Newsweek” for reporting that the waves, at their highest point, reached 60 feet in height. Details, people. It’s all in the details. This has absolutely nothing to do with politics whatsoever, but it speaks to two of my main fears: exploding cars and Aaron Carter. My other major fear is (no lie) huge waves/the open ocean. So, I believe that pretty much covers it. There are giftcards whispering to me from within my wallet. I hate going shopping, but I really need a new cell phone cover. Oh and pants. I smell the mall, and it smells foul. Pray for me. Pray hard like the President. Thanks in advance, Kristin PS - TSUNAMI!
Administration officials say the darndest things
So, I was reading about Condi's pick for the deputy spot at the State Department. He's what you would expect... a Bush-loyalist from even before Bush was Bush, but what got me was this quote buried in the story... "He already knows the building and is widely respected in Washington and on the international stage for his strong intellect," said an administration official familiar with staff plans. He spoke on condition of anonymity because the appointment has not yet been announced. Both Rice and Zoellick are known as "hard chargers and perfectionists," he added.
Perfectionist?! Really?! Condi?! Huh.
Damn those Hollywood values!
Don't quote me on this
From this morning's Washington Times: Powell, Jeb Bush take a 'ride over hell' A U.S. team led by Secretary of State Colin L. Powell and Florida Gov. Jeb Bush got a close-up look at the carnage and devastation wreaked by the Dec. 26 earthquake and tsunami on this provincial Indonesian capital... I was amused by the use of quotes in the headline. The odd thing is that it is not an actual quote that appears in the story... unless they are quoting the "journalist" who wrote the piece. My guess is it was an end run around the profanity policy. Consider the alternative: Ride over "H" "E" double hockey sticks. The bigger question, though, is why was our President's brother sent?
Tom DeLay's compassionate conservatism
In the wake of 150,000 dead in South Asia, the ethically-challenged Tom DeLay comforted those assembled at the 109th Congressional Prayer Service and those watching on C-SPAN with a reading of the Gospel, in Matthew 7:21 through 27. Here's the big finish: Everyone who listens to these words of mine, and acts on them, will be like a wise man, who built his house on a rock: The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew, and buffeted the house, but it did not collapse; it has been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of mine, but does not act on them, will be like a fool who built his house on sand: The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew, and buffeted the house, and it collapsed and was completely ruined." It is really mind-boggling, isn't it? Is he that clueless or does he really, truly feel that these folks were punished by God? And, if so, does he fear for his own life? I miss 2004.
The 2004 Hangover
As you have no doubt noticed, we here at Fun for America! took a little breather... a step back from the news of the day to gain some perspective... and drink heavily. When we came to what did we find? An earthquake and the resulting tsunami devastated South Asia
Bush has proven once again that he is utterly useless when anything unscripted happens
Democrats might be developing balls... look out Gonzales
Republicans, however, have the biggest balls of them all
And [who knew], they actually chose ethics over Tom DeLay
We are now out-numbered in Iraq
But, at least things have calmed down in Ukraine
More to come, my friends. It's a new year, and we are just getting warmed up.
