about
In the last thirty years, we've
seen a repulsive trend in political and social thought. Large business
interests, a dollar-driven sensationalist news media, and a two-party
system balanced dangerously between a cumbersome, corrupt bureaucracy
and out and out lunacy have all joined forces to create a docile,
pablum-hungry public. Homogenized social messages wrapped in meaningless
catch phrases and blatant emotional appeals are so relentlessly
drilled into our heads that the only representatives the majority
could conceive of voting for are gray-haired, middle-aged Caucasian
men wielding contrary solutions to non-existent problems.
The Fun Party is a natural,
even inevitable response to this, representing that segment of society
still fundamentally interested in the more traditionally embraced
ethics of avoiding force or intimidation, desperate believers that
truth and pragmatism can only be used productively if embraced willingly,
but also a segment audacious enough that it can't hold its tongue
in the face of obvious idiocies.
Born from the ashes of the Fun
Party's election-night defeat, Fun for America! is a grassroots
organization, raising awareness of the issues of the day through
satire. However, we caution those who
encounter Fun for America! from dismissing us as "a joke."
To quote the Reverend Ivan Stang, "something can be funny and true
at the same time," and in an insane environment, the sanest people
might naturally seem mad. We want to tell the truth, but that doesn't
mean we can't explain it in an entertaining way. This doesn't make
the truth less true, but it may make it more constructive, more
beneficial, in the long run, to all of us.
Our message is simple... Get
angry. Get involved. It's Fun for America!
Michael B. Heaney
Chairman
Michael B. Heaney is man of many passions,
many loves. It is the strength of those passions that pushed him
to pursue the office of the Presidency. Love for this great nation,
where he was born and raised, continues to drive him to step forward
and attempt to protect it from the forces of corruption which have
abused it so long. Likewise, a love of power compelled him to seek
the highest office in the land, as opposed to pursuing office at
the local level, where he could undoubtedly do more good. The love
of wealth and influence encouraged him to draw together a cabal
of men imbued with questionable ethical codes. All these strong
desires work to build the man of character leading the Fun for America
charge.
Mike is widely regarded as a scholar, and
an avid fan of the written word. Each evening before going to sleep,
he curls up with a glass of fine cognac and rereads my two favorite
works, the U.S Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
Most politicians are one long string of embarrassments.
This is largely because they preach a lifestyle of absurd moral
upstanding, a level of ethical commitment beyond the ability of
your average human. As a result, when they fail to live up to their
own standards, when they get caught sleeping with interns and driving
under the influence, it looks worse than it is. As a presidential
candidate and a political leader, Micheal Heaney is happy to say
that all of his sins are out in the open. He's already done most
of this stuff, folks, and he knows where he's coming from.
Dallas Shelby
Founder & Executive Director
Dallas Shelby was born on September 18, 1973,
in Mountain Home, Arkansas, the fourth child of Bill and Norma Shelby.
The Shelbys lived a comfortable life in a quiet farming community
in central Arkansas. It was here with the support of his family
and the close-knit community around him, that Dallas developed the
values that have guided him as a student, a writer, a businessman,
a magazine publisher, a speaker, very briefly as a professional
wrestler, and now as a political operative.
"Dallas got his energy and dynamism from
his father. He got his willingness to wait things out from his mother.
I don't know where he got those webbed feet from."
Geraldine
Swinney, Dallas's aunt
Today, Dallas Shelby is a successful magazine
publisher, filmmaker and an international business leader with an
intimate understanding of and admiration for the American people.
In fact, it was a conversation with a farmer
in Fort Dodge, Iowa, that lead him into politics. The farmer expressed
his disgust with the current administration with a simple statement,
"Hell, you could do a better job than Bush!" It was at that
moment that Dallas knew it was his duty to add his voice to political
debate.
